"I have known Kenya Smith for over 11 years. During that time, I have
had the pleasure to watch Kenya as a law student, a colleague, a
successful attorney, and a friend. He has never ceased to impress me.
Kenya is bright, creative, compassionate, and hard-working. Most
significantly, while many elected officials only talk about progress,
Kenya knows how to get things done. He always has had a clear sense of
who he is and where he comes from, carrying his sense of community with
him even when he has traveled away from home. The citizens of
Louisiana's 2nd Congressional District could not ask for a better
representative than Kenya Smith."

I've known Kenya Smith for over twenty years. He has proven himself as a tested leader on the local, state, and federal levels. He has consistently fought to make sure the greater New Orleans area received its fair share of financial support since hurricanes Rita and Katrina. You can depend on Kenya Smith!

Over the past 5 years I have gotten to know Kenya through his activism in community and political events on the east and West banks of New Orleans and the surrounding parishes. I recall a conversation we shared a few years ago where we were discussing his feelings towards making a change in our community. Kenya stated "It’s not about me, it’s by the people ,for the people, and about the people." At that moment, I knew that he would be an excellent candidate for political office serving our community.

As the president of Concerned Civil Leaders of Jefferson Parish, I along with the CEO, Louis Favorite, Jr were excited to learn that Kenya was considering to join in the race to congress in 2008.We as an organization believe that there are many qualified candidates who are seeking this office, but the one who has presented himself as a beacon for change, growth, prosperity, activism, and leadership is Kenya Smith. We know that he will listen to and voice your concerns to those who can implement the change needed to better serve our community as a whole. It is time to get back to building a strong foundation with the youth as well as the elderly in our community. We believe that Kenya will serve this community with the compassion and determination that we need to provide a more stable and conducive environment for all of the Concerned Citizens.

Supporting anyone for Congress or any elected positions in Louisiana has and is one of the more challenging events for any one in New Orleans.  When Kenya shared with me his desires to run for Congress, my first question was "What can you do that no one else has?".  He thoughtfully has taken time to teach me why we must do what is absolutely morally right, correct and ethical for our citizens, why it's right to question, why it's right to challenge and why it's right to hold our elected officials accountable.  I already knew he was trustworthy and honest  and I firmly as well as wholeheartedly know he is the right candidate for Congress, he knows the critical personnel  to contact to get our recovery in a mode of moving forward, no more sitting and waiting or passing the buck.  I hope everyone meets him and learns his plans from funding/restoration of wetlands, Go Zone money distribution and community fund distribution.  He's enlightening and energetic and part of New Orleans...all of which we need in New Orleans.
